Intriguing madrasa raid in Pakistan

madrasa-raid_2Pakistan, considered to be a rogue country, continues to emit intriguing signals. Known as a haven of terrorists, in particular Islamist ones, Pakistan occasionally cracks whips on terrorists’ hide-outs and training centers, dotting the porous Pakistan-Afghanistan borders, in a bid to placate the United States of America. Reports in the media that the Pakistani army had leveled a madrasa in a hamlet on the border on its own had a few takers. Little wonder, within no time, reports started pouring that it was a joint exercise by the United States and Pakistani forces in search of a high profile terrorist kingpin, Ayman al-Zawahiri, who is known as the second man in the hierarchy of the al-Qaida, the terrorist organisation. Not only this, reports authoritatively says that it was not an air attack by the Pakistani helicopters alone but it was carried out by a U.S. Predator drone. It is a different matter that the smart terrorist once again succeeded in escaping. However, Pakistan continues to deny that the air raid was carried in collaboration with the U.S.

Perhaps, political expediency demands such posture. Pakistan’s president Perwez Musharraf cannot dump the Islamic fundamentalists who thrived under Pakistan’s patronage though at the initiative of the U.S. The public in Pakistan often convey its disapproval of the government’s action in this regard. Demonstrations are held all over Pakistan against such raids. The public mood remains anti-U.S. The Pakistan government too can go on against the terrorists to some extent as the president enjoys the political support of the obscurantists and fundamentalists in the country’s politics where arch rivals Nawaz Sharief and Ms. Benazir Bhutto have joined hands to challenge Musharraf. On the other hand, Pakistan is not in a position to chart out its way independently. It has to obey the instructions of its long time ally the United States of America.

Pakistani intelligence sources say they have Zawahiri ‘boxed’ in about 70-square kilometer area on Pakistani-Afghanistan border, and the dreaded terrorist should be dead or captured in the next few months. Perhaps, it will be a personal gift from Musharraf to the U.S. President Bush on the eve of the next elections in the U.S.

One thing is for sure that Pakistan cannot raid the area onits own as it is itself breeding such terrorists on its homeland.

The Point that U.S. has helped them in air-raiding the area makes more sense...

And more over Zawahiri must have escaped the raid with Pakistan’s support only...

Pakistan’s call that the raid was not a joint action taken with the US is a farce (Major General Shaukat Sultan has accepted that US intelligence was provided). Why would Pakistan blow up terrorists he’s nurturing? But killing innocents just to flaunt that the nation that is undoubtedly a terrorists’ hub is unacceptable. Doesn’t matter how hard Pakistan pitch its hollow strategy with this respect, it won’t be able to make ends meet, especially in the absence of democracy.

Jolly you may have a point. But General Musharraf is walking a gaunlet and is trapped between the Taliban and the Americans.

Not matter how much he may want to side with fellow brethren, the Americans will turn the heat on him. For them it is ”Get us Bin Laden”.

President Bush’s war on terrorism has gone wary and he is stuck up in Iraq, but people still remember that the orginial enemy was Bin Landen and not Saddam Hussain.

Deviation from the target has pitched the west against militant Islam and whether Musharraf likes it or not, he is caught in the crossfire.

Containing an ideology that one propogated not so long ago is difficult for the gun culture that has sprung up in the region is bound to recoil and get at your own people, someday.

This is really an incredible step taken by Pak government. I am not understanding what inspired Pakistan government to take such an intripid step.

However, I think by doing this raid pakistan has tried to throw dust into the eyes of international community.

Quest for al-Zawahiri capturing is Ok but what about innocent civilians who lost their lives for no reason. The whole play is based upon US tips n nothing else. This shows simply that Perwaiz has his no own ideology, no own thoughts. n most reductions thing is that US who always shed tears for peace is involved in such a heinous work.

A special gift, stained with the blood of his own countrymen, from Musharraf to gratify the U.S. President. No wonder, in recent future, if you receive the news of, much anticipated, generous aid from U. S. to Pakistan.

What makes me ponder again and again is that why Pakistan always try to deny things that people know have surely happened. Pakistan killing the self-cultivated terrorists doesn’t make any sense to me. The most amusing part of the incident is that Ayman al-Zawahiri escaped the raid. You must have got the hint now that how come he managed to do that..:-)

I am no anti-American but every such news instigates me to be one… I just wanna question every visitor here what is US’s actual role in the global community? With India it plays a mediator, with Pakistan it’s a partner in crime…in the UN a dominator, in the Middle East a combater and in South Asia a cantankerous… If anyone can guess it please let me know.

It is not the first that Pakstani army has indulged in such a fake operation earlier Bluch’s leader Khan bhugti had also killed barbarically. I think UN must pay heed in this context because killing of inocent people is not acceptable. Here I tend to ask America that is it not the harassment of human rights or US has a different yardstick for different countries.

I don’t think so that America actually want to capture Bin Landen and Al-javahari. America is trying to make fool its own country men. Everybody knows America played very important role in making Al-Quid a. America is depicting that it is trying hard to capture these terrorists and it don’t care if any civilian dies.

Bush govt. in America has failed to grab the support of his own countrymen after the Iraq war. He was recently heard saying that “like most of the Americans he is also not happy with the results that has come up from the Iraq war,” no wonder Bush can say that in the wake of next presidential elections ahead. To make up for his mistake in Iraq he has come up with a new idea to hunt for terrorist kingpin, Ayman al-Zawahiri.

And who better can help Bush than Pakistan, the breeding pit of terrorists, who is making it big by earning millions of dollars as prize for the terrorists of America’s choice.
