Will Chavez be re-elected?

chavez_2As an estimated crowd of a little less than a million of Venezuelans packed a major highway on Saturday in Caracas (Venezuela), a city of 5 millions, in one of the largest demonstrations in years, waving flags as presidential candidate Manuel Rosales vowed to unseat incumbent Hugo Chavez in elections on December 3, the question arises whether Hugo Chavez, a rabid anti-U.S. ruler in Latin America will continue to rule the country.

Over the years, he has emerged as the most influential Communist leader, even overshadowing his mentor Fidel Castro of Cuba. He has too become the symbol of Communist forces, marching once again following setbacks to the Marxists in the erstwhile U.S.S.R and East European countries.

Rosales lashed out at what Chavez calls his plan for “21st century socialism,” saying it’s nothing more than a plan to be “president all his life, until he dies like Fidel Castro — indefinite re-election…..It’s Castro communism, the Cubanization of Venezuela….This country doesn’t want that. It wants modernity.”

Chavez, who was first elected in 1998, has said he wants to continue governing Venezuela until 2021 or longer. He said he plans to call a referendum to ask Venezuelans whether they support changing the constitution to allow indefinite re-election. It currently allows two consecutive presidential terms.

He will definitely be re-elected in all probability. The moderrn champion of communism has provided an independent identity for Venezuels is a well established fact even for the citizens of Venezuela. His political dynamism and economic vision has made Venezuela invincible to any undue international pressure.

His ambitious plan of linking pertoleum trading with euro in place of dollar is a great dream of sidelining the power of th US. Further, he is one of the few leaders who has the ability to say ’no’ to the US.

I think, Chavez is going to register overwhelming win on December 3 election in Venezuela. The Sunday\’s rally was seen as the largest in support of Chavez since campaigning began in August. It was as a glimpse of the support he enjoys in Venezuela. On the other hand, one day before his rally, hundreds of thousands of Manuel Rosales, his main election rival, supporters also marked one of the largest anti-Chavez demonstrations in years. Despite of this anti-Chavez show, road ahead for Hugo is looking smooth.

Hugo Chavez will come with a flying color in the upcoming elections. After all, he is a visionary leader. Despite continual pressure from the USA, he has not detracted from his mission. Under his leadership, the country reached new heights.

Hugo calls Bush a devil and vows to beat it, however, on other side, Venezuela is still the fourth-largest provider of oil to the US. Now, this spells off-track ideology, especially when Hugo is not spending oil wealth to get rid of the basic problems and social ills of Venezuela. Poverty has taken a horrendous shape crushing the economy of the nation, now, what’s been done of the ‘black gold’.

Certainly, Hugo love poor citizens of his country, and want to keep them poor from all respect.

Another thing we cannot overlook is Hugo’s foreign policy, calling people ‘devil’, doesn’t matter who he is, are not signs of a good ‘leader’ and also he’s done little to strengthen Latin America. Venezuelans will vote for their future.

Hugo dubs president bush as a Genocidal Murderer ... I agree with Vikas , he is not a seasoned politician ... he is a dictator who has been linking up with terrorists in the recent past , being a part of the free world i definitely vouch against him and hope the Valenzuelans will vote dexterously .

Hugo Chavez is a bellicose crab. His popularity lies in his anti-US stance. He has been able to cash in the world sentiments against the US following the events in the last 5 years or so with Bush going berserk.

On the domestic front, Hugo Chavez has brought in nothing but economic misery. Still Venezuela is better off than many of its Latin American sisters.

The Venezuelans see him as a strong leader and he might just get re-elected. However, he has to give up his pro-despot policy (Mugabe et al) and soften his ultra-left agenda.
